Are you on the right path? Or can you not see the wood for the trees?

Are you on the right path? Or can you not see the wood for the trees?

Yesterday I went on a walk; it was cold but the sun was shining. I enjoy getting out in the fresh air and blowing the cobwebs away and I also find it is a good time to reflect and take stock.

As I walked, I noticed how the paths were all different – some more defined than others, some with hazards such as potholes to fall in, muddy patches to slip on and obstacles to climb over and others where you have to decide left or right.

And it got me thinking how we follow a path just because it is there in front of us and it is the only route we can see.

We may know that the path is not clear, we may not be enjoying the journey and it may even be taking us in the wrong direction and yet we continue to follow it and find a way past the hazards because we don’t know a different route.

This is how many of my clients feel when they start working with me. Sometimes they know they don't like the path they are on are bored of the scenery and want another but do not know how to find it.  Sometimes they reach that crossroads and are unsure of the best route to take and this decision prompts them to seek out help.

As Jerry Gillies said “ You will recognise your own path when you come across it because suddenly you will have all the energy & imagination you will ever need!”
