There are 5 Seasons - Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and the Season of Transition

Did you know there are 5 seasons? Have you heard of the Season of Transition?

Did you think there are 4 seasons?  There are really 5!

Let me explain...

Last week the weather was lovely – really warm and sunny. Yesterday..it wasn’t quite so sunny or warm.

I was going out for a walk and I was questioning…do I need a cardigan?
I wondered whether I would be warm enough without and didn’t want to carry it if I didn’t need it. I checked my weather app and that didn’t really help.

I was dithering – do I or don’t I?
I decided I would take one just in case!

Whilst out, I heard a rumble of thunder and another one and another one and then it started pelting with rain – cats and dogs.
I wasn’t expecting that – there was no rain forecast and so the downpour caught me by surprise.

What did I do?

There was not a lot I could do…there wasn’t much shelter so I accepted that it was out of my control, that I would get wet and that I could have a warm shower when I got home.

This is like the Season of Transition we go through when we are implementing change.

Firstly, you are in a comfortable place and you know what to expect and then you start to move into the season of transition – that time where you question whether you need a cardi or not.

You question yourself, doubt the situation, doubt your decision making and may retreat back to your comfort zone.

Just like me going for a walk – sometimes you just need to make the best decision you can!

And then as you are going through that season of transition, you get a curve ball – the downpour and the thunder.

It wasn’t planned or expected!

It can be these things that completely derail you. You may feel a failure because you didn’t plan for it or are unsure how to deal with it.

What do you do?

When you reach that point… you have to decide what you can do about it, if anything.
In other words, you may want to consider your Circle of Influence:

Ifyou can relate to this, ask yourself these questions:

1. Is this within my direct control?
If yes, then change your actions or behaviours - did you know NLP can help you do this?

If the answer is no, then ask...

2. Is this due to someone else's actions?
If yes, work on your interactions to expand your influence on their actions and behaviours - did you know NLP can help you do this?

If the answer is no, then ask...

3. Is this outside of my control?
If the answer is no to the first two, this time it will be yes!
Therefore accept the situation and save your energy and focus on what you can control.

Did you know NLP can help you do this too?
