Are you taking opportunities or making excuses?
Opportunities don’t wait for you!
Last week I was offered the opportunity at the last minute to play golf on one of Scotland’s most prestigious golf courses – Kingsbarns; just a few miles from St Andrews although not as well known.
It was exciting to think about, but I kept pondering:
• It’s a long way for a game of golf.
• The weather doesn’t look very good.
• We do not have anywhere to stay and it’s pricey to stay in St Andrews
I then thought about what I would say if this was a client in this frame of thinking and so ...
we decided to do it!
• Yes, the train journey took us nearly 8 hours but it was a good chance to have some downtime and to enjoy the scenery.
• Yes, there was the haar (a cold sea fog) and rain but we had our jumpers and waterproofs.
• Once we said yes, a friend of a friend offered to put us up.
It was a fantastic weekend. I came home tired and yet also refreshed having had a really great experience. My golf was pretty good too!
I am hoping the opportunity will come again but if not, then I have had the experience.

Opportunities come up every day. It’s your choice whether or not you take them.
